ZL400 Not running properly.

You might try measuring what you have and see if you can't find something that will fit from a totally different bike - I'm not real familiar with the 400's - do you know what size the carburetors are? Maybe take the ones you need to a dealer or motorcycle junk yard and see if you can match them up? You might also try searching this site and find another member with a 400 that might have an idea on where to get parts. Later.

I got the exact same issue on my bike i just got


Looks like some one took out the airbox and put K&N filters in place

did you have any luck getting another airbox. Been told i could keep the filters but would need to get a rolling road test done and carbs balanced

best i can get up to 50mph great till that point then just doesnt have any power
 
Where the carbs rejetted for the additional airflow? I'm guessing not. PO probably just threw the pods on. If so, you're running lean, which is not good on the engine. Need to pull carbs and check jets. Factory jets should be listed in the service manual.

Is the exhaust stock? That also impacts airflow and would require another adjustment to the jets.
 
no idea if the carbs have been jetting but going on the proformance prob not

hoping to try and get a airbox to put it back to stock

the exhaust is stock from what i can tell everything else looks to be stock
 
Just wanted to add i had a better look over the bike

The air box is still there and the rubber boots to the carbs. Its just hte very front cover of the airbox thats missing. Been trying to find a replacment or something that would fit in is place but havign no luck as all
