What carbs will swap directly onto the Zl900 jetting aside ?
I have ZX900 and ZX1000 in stock but the OD of the engine side throats are too big for the ZL boots.
If anyone has knowledge about what carbs and or boot combinations will work to get my ZL900 on the road again, or as a last resort has a set of ZL900 carbs to sell, please let me know. My are burnt (previous owners stupidity not mine) into a useless mess.

ZG1000 carbs are a direct swap. You may want to use the ZL9 needles. The ZG needles have some extra angles and may not work well or they may work better?

The ZX9/10 carbs will fit but you need the ZL10 carb holders which aren't easy to find

Re: ZL carb swapping w CONCOURS engine

Im A NEWBIE to carbs
So here what Ill be installing
1. 1000cc Concours Kawasaki engine w a
2.1985 900ZL Eliminator carbs with K|N AIR pods (taking off airbox)
3. stock exhaust.
4.altitude is 5800 to 8000 feet.

6sigmajetkits requested year, exact model, level of modification, and altitude, so we can tailor our kit to the needs of your bike.
All of these factors affect kit design.

6sigmajetkits @ ebay is recommending stage 4.5 high altitude.
What may I ask makes it a 4.0 -5.0 stage?
Also, do get 1 and 2 sizes smaller main jets to fine tune for altitude since Ill be using the stock exhaust?

regarding the boots does work w ZL carb swapping onto CONCOURS engine?

Hi Kawikid,

You should be able to fit the zl9 carbs onto the zg motor. It will require zl9 boots or zg10 boots. The difference between the 2 are the angle of the zl9 boots that keep the carbs a little more level. Since you are using pods you should be OK but I have never fitted zg boots onto the Eliminator.

As far as tuning goes you will be in the dark unless you get it dyno-tuned or use a Wideband Air/Fuel guage. I would never tell anyone what size jet will work in their bike without knowing whats coming out of the tailpipe.

I haven't heard anything about the jet kits you speak of, I highly recommend Holeshot or Factorypro, companies that know and have tested these bikes thoroughly.

WHAT? Another Colorado member? That makes 3 of us now! Welcome Kawikid!!

dont buy that jet kit !

they do not contain needles !! a jet kit is all about the needles no needles no jet kit, just buy jets or get the factory pro jet kit
