yo recently just bought a zl 400 and the guy before me seems have put on 4 sporty air filters which you can see two of in the picture and the other two i have took off. Just wondering what i put on the 4 holes to make it back to its original self got the air filter box to the right off and dont know if theres any hoses missing as such to connect to these 4 holes. Also have a leak from my fuel tank coming if from where the key goes in only if i tip it upside down though just wondering if this is normal or do i need a new black circle thing that goes under the lid for the lock and if so what are these called ? HELP :D haha

found out that its the airbox that connects to the carbs that i need and also have no idea if the zl 600 airbox would fit the 400???? :)

welcome to zl-oa!

Sorry but there is little known about the 400 here, just not that common. If you post up the OD of the carb then someone with a 600 could respond with your answer.

Is it a or b model?

Know nothing about the 400, but just a thought. The filters look like pods, maybe with a higher airflow than the stock system. So ... the PO may (or may not) have re-jetted the carbs to match, and going back to stock config may need a re-jetting, too.

just going to take the carbs off and give them a clean maybe just stick to the pods then because parts coming from america is very dear for delivery haha

If you're going to be into the carbs anyway, check the jet sizes you have. Unless you know the PO and can find out what might have been done, there's no telling what might be in there.

Hi late reply so don't know i you've managed to fix the problem yet, but I have a Zl 400 too. Are you based in the UK?

I went from stock to pods similar to the ones you have shown in th pics, and then increased the main jet to compensate. At the minute I am looking to have a simple cover over the pods and a bar around the back just as safety to make sure they don't pop back out. You are looking to go back to stock, so again check the jets as they should have been modified so, if you can find a spare set of original carbs and some rubber tubes that run from the airbox to the carbs

Regarding the leaking fuel, as I remember as you open the cap there is a rubber ring that might need changing. I'm assuming there is no obvious damage to the cap opening

Hope that is of some help
