well, took the ZX-7 out for a final spin today before prepping it for it's long winter nap. i gave it a quick wipe down then brought it in house. Eleanor is coming in tomorrow afternoon.

This time of year I put stabil in the tanks of the bikes and then run them for a good 20 minutes and shut down. I do not drain carbs and have never owned a battery tender. I never really "put the bikes up for winter" as I try to ride at leat 10 miles in each month if the roads permit. Sometimes it may be two months in between rides. My bikes stay in the garage (basically unheated). If I was parking outside I may do things a bit different. if in a situation where critters might get to it, then yes you wanna protect some of the openings and wiring. I once had to park my 900 outside during winter as I had no structure. I put stabil in the tank and circulated it thru carbs and shut it down. Covered with my dowco cover and it sat in a parking spot in front of my townhouse. I would not worry about flat spots on tires unless you store it for a very long time (over a year) same with fogging it. No need. Or pulling the battery...In my garage I really rarely even cover up the bikes...

I've been wanting to do that. Take my family up to the Allegheny National Forest in PA & rent some sleds. They have a 265 mile course threw the Forest. I've spent 14 years hunting up in the Forest. We would hunt deep in the forest. It is like going back in time. We would find log cabins with standing chimneys. I miss the winters. I never had cabin fever. FL has no real winters. I just came in from the woods & got chased out by a zillion mosquitoes. Hunting sucks in FL. You are hard pressed to find a deer. Have fun on the sleds.

Have you ever been to the Allegheny National Forest. The trail head starts in Marienville PA. It is a half hour North of Clairion PA just off of I 80.
