This time of year I put stabil in the tanks of the bikes and then run them for a good 20 minutes and shut down. I do not drain carbs and have never owned a battery tender. I never really "put the bikes up for winter" as I try to ride at leat 10 miles in each month if the roads permit. Sometimes it may be two months in between rides. My bikes stay in the garage (basically unheated). If I was parking outside I may do things a bit different. if in a situation where critters might get to it, then yes you wanna protect some of the openings and wiring. I once had to park my 900 outside during winter as I had no structure. I put stabil in the tank and circulated it thru carbs and shut it down. Covered with my dowco cover and it sat in a parking spot in front of my townhouse. I would not worry about flat spots on tires unless you store it for a very long time (over a year) same with fogging it. No need. Or pulling the battery...In my garage I really rarely even cover up the bikes...
