New Tools

I used to be really all about buying American, but that pretty much ended when Walmart abandoned American products. Must be 30 years ago now. Anybody remember when they had Made in America signs on many of their displays?

87kawzl, Works great with 4 strategically placed 2x6x3/4" boards about 2" wide. I used scrap deck boards. I roll the bike up on a 2x4 with another 2x4 for the kickstand, makes it much easier to do by myself!

You lift from the oil pan then, I figured as much. Makes the safety straps even more critical having the narrow footprint. Not having the power chamber in the way helps clear the way for some timber. Thanks.

I usually hung the bike when the rear needed lifted.

OK, I'm messing with you guys. These aren't "new" tools. Have had em for quite a few years and I recently refurbished them. Chrome started flaking off not long after I had them and then one of the handles broke off. Since no suitable replacements could be found I'm keeping 'em! Sears offered to swap me out for some crummy ones, but nah. They are rubbery and you can really get a surprisingly large amount of torque on them. Here's some before pics.

I've got some with hard handles I carry in the truck, but it's amazing how much more oomph you can get with the rubbery handles. Think some of it is due to the large circumference. I'm not sure why the chrome went to hell. They just hang on the pegboard. Mine are of similar vintage to yours.

I reach for my 1/4" drive with the screwdriver handle on it and find it much more useful since I usually use the deep sockets on it. My nut drivers are pretty shiny still probably from reaching right past them. ;)

One of the nice things about this set is those handles are actually hollow so they do the job of deep well or shallow sockets.

:hello: My Brother-In-Law Ron B. left me all his tools when he passed from cancer in October 2020. He was only 58 years old. He was my best friend. He worked for our local CHEVY Dealer for 30 plus years. Here are pics of one of his CRAFTSMAN tool boxes, hand tools and autobody tools. I used EVAPO-RUST on most of the hand tools. Time spend abouit six hours. _____________________________________FB_IMG_1602023126113[1].jpg 20220325_103301[1].jpg 20220326_085639[1].jpg 20220326_094239[1].jpg 20220326_094208[1].jpg 20220326_093850[1].jpg 20220326_093905[1].jpg 20220326_093917[1].jpg 20220326_093928[1].jpg 20220326_093940[1].jpg 20220326_093950[1].jpg 20220326_094005[1].jpg 20220326_094014[1].jpg 20220326_094029[1].jpg

Sorry to hear of your buddy's passing. A whole lot of my friends checked out in their 50s too. Must be a bit overwhelming having so many tools though. Whatcha gonna do with all the extras? BTW regular old vinegar will strip the rust off anything in a day or two. I've been doing some Plasti-Dipping and all those tools are getting the vinegar treatment. Even scaly crap just drops right off. I found a Klein screwdriver when the snow melted this year. I'm thinking either the ph or cable guy must have lost it. Was about to pitch the rusty ol thing, but decided to give it the vinegar treatment first. Thing looks almost new now and currently resides in my electrician's box.

:hello: I have no spare tools. :laughing7:. My roll away tool boxes. Left to right #1. Bought it for $80 from a friend. 2020. #2. Free from G.E. Areospace Div. 1996. #3. Was given to me when my neighbor moved. 2010. 20220326_134045[1].jpg

Freebie tiller, Bro in law who helped with the garden fence gifted it, said it stalls after a while. Drained the gas and put new in, took out plugged air cleaner foam pad and hosed down the carb with cleaner. Started first pull and kept running. It's heavily used but will beat turning over the soil with a spade.

Nice score. I turn in horse manure every spring so my dirt is loose enough to scoop up with your hands. Can't say I enjoy all the shovel work, but it's not too bad. Only time I wish had a tiller is when I'm starting a garden from scratch.

The original 15x21 patch was done by shovel. This is an area that used to be home for goats the top soil is pretty rich. I probably will throw a truckload of organics at it in the fall for next year. Money is allocated to other home projects right now.
