New Tools

:hello: Today I had to replace my 30 year old 100 foot 3/8" air line. I bought a 100 foot 3/8 jobsmart air line with a manual wind up reel from TRACTOR SUPPLY for $60. I also bought a two foot 1/2" flexzilla air hose from E-bay to connect the reel to the compressor. $20. https://www.ebay.com/itm/291903025305 . _______________________________________________________________________20210905_170621[1].jpg 20210905_171059[1].jpg 20210905_170636[1].jpg 20210905_171136[1].jpg

Never saw a reel like that before. What happens to the hose when you pull it out though? Slinky time? I coil my air hose in massive loops, prob 5' or more around. That way it sorta lays flat on the floor instead of getting all kinked up.

I've used reels in the past and they're great until the ratcheting mechanism fails. Now I just use two 50' hoses that I connect together if I need longer. Like ZLrider, I hang them high in five big loops each. I almost never need to undo more than 1 or 2 loops for most jobs.

:hello: See pic one of post #181. I also have the two 30 year old 50 footers wound up on the hose hanger that I made 30 years ago. The one I bought is a manual reel. It works great. I had two of the rachet locking auto reels. They was both CHINA junk. They quit working in less than a month.

Oh, I see. I guess the only thing you might need to maintain or replace are the seals that wear as it rotates. (?)

:hello: After cutting my right index finger I remembered that my Son Jared bought me a GGR-RIPPER wood pusher for my table saw for XMAS a few years back. I just now found it. :laughing7:. It's made in the USA by MICROJIG. It has three way adjustments using thumb screw knobs. It cost $45. This is the cheaper one. https://www.toolstoday.com/v-15009-...wdbABaWvX5e5xnL99kaBQqJX3Fto9njBoCrdkQAvD_BwE. This one is more money. https://www.infinitytools.com/micro...9McgwZorCGhMtE-CVWixblqZ6idXP2DhoCGFcQAvD_BwE . ___________________________20210911_142803[1].jpg 20210911_142736[1].jpg 20210911_143015[1].jpg 20210729_133228[1].jpg 20210911_183105[1].jpg

Ugh, that's nasty. Hate to say it, but I've done worse. Not on a table saw though. I have a variety of push sticks I've made in diff sizes for diff jobs. Also a few jigs.

My buddy owns a shop and they sell and use nothing but SawStop.

:hello: I've been using table saws and others since 1972. This was my first accident with a saw. When using a table saw the operator is to set the height of the blade at 1/4" above what is being cut to pervent getting cut from a kick back. When I got cut I was ripping 2"x 4"x 16" boards then 3/4" ones and forgot to drop the blade down for the smaller thickness. I was using the pusher that came with the saw and was reaching way past the blade with my other hand when the saw kicked back and my hand came back. It's been 7 weeks since cutting my finger and its 90% healed. Finger was broke and did splinter. The three very small pieces of broke off bone did come to the surface. I pulled them out along with two pieces of finger nail. ____________ Capture 1.PNG Capture 2.PNG Capture.PNG

Craigslist score for the shopsmith. $80 for upper and lower saw guard (RJ, I'm sure you'll appreciate that one), a blade collet (will be the third, blade changes much quicker with mounted collets) and a spare slide that fits the table grooves in case I want to make a fixture.

Do people actually use guards on their saws though? I tossed the one off my Crapsman table saw years ago as it was hard to see through and made some common tasks nearly impossible. Even less safe perhaps. I really hate those anti-kickback cogs.

This one looks to flip up easily and the table saw is supposedly the weak area of the shopsmith. I will use it until I see the need for a real table saw if I get into woodworking enough to justify it.

:hello: My Brother-In-Law and best friend Ron gave me all his tools before he passed October 2020. Here are some of the tools that he left me. :hello: A while back at LOWES I bought this PONY rapid acting band squaring clamping jig. $20. I'm going to use it to square up privacy fence doors/gates. 20211001_132516[1].jpg 20211001_132431[1].jpg 20211001_132358[1].jpg

El cheapo pressure washer. The pressure washers are currently on clearance at sam's club (price hack ending in a 1 is clearance, this was $69.91) so I got it for 46% off listed price. The gas powered washers were on clearance too if you need a good deal on one.

Being on a well, I only have a limited amount of water (well calculates out to ~60gal) so this little one will suit my needs. My tractor will finally get a bath. If I need a big job done my brother has a water buffalo and a real pressure washer that is heated.

:hello: I bought a new 10 inch bench vice from Amazon. It opens up to 10 1/4 inches. Price $316 but I got it for $216. It's cast from 60,000 PSI and the locking bar under the slider is machined steel. My IRWIN's locking bar was cast and it broke in 3 places. I priced USA made machined steel vices. They cost over a $1000. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003JSY8VM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details .20211019_193006[1].jpg 20211019_192948[1].jpg
