Hello ZLOA!
About three weeks ago My dd died on my on my way home from school, turned out it was beyond affordable repair and I sold it.
I took this opportunity to look for a motorcycle instead of a new car, as I have always wanted a motorcycle, and finally had an excuse to finally learn to ride =]
I ended up finding an 86 zl600 locally last sunday, took it to an excellent shop in haines city and had them sync the carbs, perform a compression check, change the plugs, and replace the old fuel lines.
The bike seems to be running great! and thanks to the forums I learned how to, and performed, a coolant flush and oil change on this bike last night. I also fixed the flickering/steady temp light issue in the tach by simply cleaning the leads in the connector.

I am really enjoying this bike. I am babying it as its my only transportation for awhile, but I am finding myself taking the longest, twistiest routes everywhere, as my love of driving has increased immensely, now that I have had the pleasure to experience two wheels.
I live in Central Florida, I am a full time student studying aviation, and I am a full time cook.
Money is always tight as I have been on my own for awhile, and cooks don't make very much.. even if your good =/
But I was fortunate enough to find an excellent price on this little gem, and I took her home with me =D

Looking forward to chatting with you all,
Reptar

Welcome! I think you'll find this a good place if you like to do your own work, and just be around folks who appreciate the ZL's

Do you have any pics of your new baby?

Yes I was referring to a daily driver.
I do enjoy doing most of the work on my vehicles if I have the time.
I will take some pics when I get home tomorrow afternoon, maybe a video of it running as well. =]

I just got home, she's still warm.

The previous owner spray painted the tank, and front fender, I plan on repainting it, along with the rear. There are also two fairings missing between the rear tire, and the airbox. I think it should say zl600 there. In its place is apparent to be crude, cut out pieces from a large plastic barrel. Looks alright I guess for the time being before it's replaced with the real part, and it serves its purpose of protecting the parts behind them.
What do you guys think of my Eliminator?

Looks real good. These bikes hold their beauty for along time. I'm always looking at mine. You'll find just about everything you'll need here on this site. A good group of guys ( and a woman) here.

Looks nice ... glad you're enjoying it.

dd = "daily driver" ... learn something new every day. I couldn't figure that one out either, but my dad was career navy and all I could think of were the DD's.

Btw, where'd you get the cup holder? I want one.

Nice ZL 600. You must be in Volusia Co. near DAB. I am in Deltona. 25 min. from DAB. Now is the best time to ride. I bought my ZL 1000 about 2 1/2 years ago. We can hook up & maybe do some riding. Bike week is the first week in March. Later R. J.

Cup holder is one of a kind and not for sale. :no-no-no: lol

I'm in southern Lake county R.J., about 20 minutes west of orlando.
I moved to this county from Detroit in 2000.
It's not too shabby, being in the middle of the state means each coast is only an hour to an hour and a half drive.
Oh, and there are quite a bit of twisty back roads around here :headbang:
