I am trying to find the posts in here that had pics of both cam timeing and the install of the timeing advancer but they seem to be hideing from me at the moment! Hopefully we havent lost those posts with the pics in them?

It's getting more and more difficult to find this info throughout the site when you guys don't label your threads properly - "Help, help help" doesn't do anyone any good and makes searching for the info in the thread useless. Put some actual useful information in your thread title so we can actually help you and make this site useful.

What advancer is it - ELS/Bacchus, V&H? Couldn't find any pics of advancers other than stock - there may be some on here somewhere. Later.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for in regards to the timing Paulfun - couple of threads with pics of the cam gears:

Start with post # 49 on page 3:

And there's this one in the Tech section:

Does that mean the sites search feature searches the header only and none of the body text? If so perhaps it's worth putting Google search bar in as it does search the body text, I've used it before to search the site and it does pretty decent.

honestly it would be better if we titled the header better. I hate having to read threw a post to figure out if its what I need when a good header would clearly let someone know if they were on the right track from the get go. I personally will try and be more to the point with any future technical posts.

Oldrider - that's not my department as far as how the search features do/would/could/should work or are to be set up on the site, but based on the searching I've done for all these threads that get posted, it's getting very difficult to track down info that we know is on the site somewhere - especially with pictures, which really aren't searchable at all.

The simple solution is to just get people to title the threads with relevant information/keywords that will help when searching, get back to tagging the threads, etc. We're going off topic now so we'll leave it at that so Billy can get back to solving his problem. Later.

Were any of those threads what you were looking for Paulfun?

"The simple solution is to just get people to title the threads with relevant information/keywords...."

Wanna bet? :laughing7:

Do you have the stock plate? Pretty simple to switch out the plates. Set timing on stock plate switch out to 4 degree then done?

Yes the ones with the pics of cam and proper orientation of the timing were the ones. I remember there also was a thread on the timing advancer install that had a pic but I still havent found it.

We talked on the phone today and I think we may have figured out what they did wrong. Waiting for him to post up what the outcome was.

Ok, just for reference, did a bunch more searching, the only thread I found a pic of an aftermarket timing advancer, on a bike, was the one below. It's hard to tell where the other pics are - buried in a mislabeled thread I imagine. If you know when or who took or posted the pic, that would help narrow down the search. Later.

Thanks for taking the time to find that one. It is indeed one of the posts I had in mind along with one I think baccus posted when he was doing the advancers for us.

I wanted to show the timeing mark for him along with the cam alignment wich according to our conversation this morning is exactly where they went wrong. Set the timing of the cams with the crank in the wrong spot (at least that what i figure they did wrong) but as said in my earlyer post am waiting till I hear back from them to be sure.

Hopefully he has been out rideing and having some fun with a running bike by now!
