Hi all - after taking apart thermostat housing to inspect the stat - after reassembling and putting on a new radiator cap ($7 from napa).. the filler neck is now leaking (aargh). Do the threads go into the water or what? wasnt leaking before - I cleaned the oring and put it back.. anyway - ive permatexed the threads and surface between the plastic and aluminum body - i hope it helps..

anyone have any experience like this? ill report back if it works later on...

i was wondering if the seal is by the oring alone or if it needs to be sealed with sealant as well. and also if the threads go thru into the water or not - .. ie down. When i removed the filler plastic thing, it didnt look like there was any sealer on there, after putting it back with the oring it leaked..

A good o ring should seal fine by itself, but I don't see where a little sealant would hurt anything either. Later.

Jarney,

yeah thats what i was thinking - it kind of looked like it was coming from the crew hole - anyway - i think its cured enough.. will go and check. just funny that rad cap AND filler neck both started leaking at the same time - after i fiddled with it..

oh well
