Blue ZL1000 Paint Codes

I have been researching the blue paint for the Blue Australian ZL1000. In previous posts it has been said the paint colour is called 'Cosmic Galaxy Blue', which has a large gold fleck paint below a blue gloss over coat. But nothing by this name or description has revealed itself during my search. The closest I have found is from RSPaint.com. They tell me with a fair amount of certainty that the paint I am looking for is Luminous Polaris Blue. It’s a 2 stage paint; silver base coat followed by blue clear candy and then lacquer.

The also tell me that the Kawasaki Z 550 GT 1986 used the same paint. Can anyone provide any insight into this. Is what im told true or false.

cmsnl.com lists the Z550 tank as "L.P. blue" and the ZL as "C.G. blue" so that matches your findings.

From your links they do not look the same to me. I think kaw would have called it the same name if it was the same paint.
 
Have you tried ColorRite? Even though it's not listed on their site, they often have the "old" formulas on record still.
 
That's the color I've got on my zl1000
I didn't think it was a factory color
Were they only blue in Australia?
Got mine in Utah
If you need the color code off the Vin ill look when I get off work
 
Appears paint code for C.G.Blue is "CZ", if you contact one of the aftermarket paint manufacturers that may help them.

With your Vin through kawasaki but I've found out
They don't wanna share that info
 
Hi guys,

I am curreltly restoring an '88 ZL1000 in Belgium. Like all ZL1000 in Belgium it is black. And, although I like black I would like my ZL to be a bit different. I have come accross pictures of Australian ZLs in this Cosmic Galaxy Blue and have fallen in love with this colour.
I therefore went to my Kawi dealer who checked and told me that the only blue colour that was ever available for ZL1000s had the colour code 003. He says it's in line with the usual Kawasaki colour codes which are three-digit codes. He also said that he could order the paint for me and I will definitely go via him for this.
