This is my first post and I've had my zl for a month and I've rode it 3 days. After I ride for 2-3 hours if I park it I can't get it to start. I try ether and what not and nothing seems to work. But if I change the plugs it will fire right up. How do I fix this?

Welcome Bplymale!

It could just be vapor locking on you. Try opening the gas cap before starting and let it sit open for 30 seconds and then try to start it. If it is vapor locking then the tanks venting and or carb venting system is plugged.

Its still doing the same thing. It tries to fire but all it does is backfire. My battery constantly dies but I don't think that would have anything to do with it.

Well I changed the new plugs back to the old plugs and it started. Is there some reason it would flood if the battery was dead?

I would say electrical.I would start with the Bat as it could have everything to do with it.Sounds like it is not up to par,and after being run with warm igniters, coils, and wiring drawing high amps the bat isn,t hacking it.The key to me is it won't start with starting fluid.Hell you can take the tank and carbs off of it and get it to fire on ether.
Just my 2c.

DOnt give it throttle when trying to start it! EVEn when its cold!

If the bike dosnt start with no throttle the carbs are out of whack and or the valves are tight.

start cold with choke on no throttle
start once its been run for the day with no choke no throttle

if you are having to gove it throttle to get it to run you need to have the carbs gone threw and the valves adjusted
