1. Guest,
We need good tech writers that are willing to help out here at ZL-OA. If you like taking photos of jobs as you perform the steps on your repairs, have historical ads/documents from old magazines, or any else you think belongs in the Technical Library than you might be able to help. Send a private message to Furchin, Mudrunner88, Chris, Jarney, Wuputt, or Markus56 and we can lead you in the right direction to get started.

Hi, first ever post. My zl400, A 1989 came with air pods :/ after much ado I very much wish to revert to air box and filter!! Bike came with no manual. So Downloaded one of here. According to that manual, the part number needed matches this herehttps://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/view/11010-1544
Please take a look. Is this right?? Thank you for taking the time.

:hello: Welcome to ZL-oa. It's hard to find anything on the ZL 400. They was for the Japanese market. You google Japanese Kawasaki Dealer nothing comes up. :laughing7:. WHY? The ZL 600 shares most parts with the ZL 400 & ZL 500. As far as the air box goes I don't know. Maybe one of the European members may know. If they use the same size carbs I'd say that the ZL600 air box would work. I found this. https://japan.webike.net/KAWASAKI/ELIMINATOR400+ZL400/384/m-spec/ Also this. https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/moto/kawasaki/zl400.html 1989 ZL 400 B2 air box. https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/mo...89-ebony-h8-japan-8306/air-filter-507317.html Compare the ZL600 part #s with the ZL 400.

:hello: The carb boots and all the air box boots are the same for both the ZL 400 and ZL 600 but the air box part #s are different. Looking at them they look the same.

I think the box itself is exactly the same but no seperate part # without the components. Looks like the only difference is the 400 has a baffle over the filter.

:hello: That's what I figured to. Also the CA. model also has some extra pollution carp. The ZL 400 shows what looks like a shield under the air box chrome covers or they may be some type of dampener/isolator.
