1. Guest,
We need good tech writers that are willing to help out here at ZL-OA. If you like taking photos of jobs as you perform the steps on your repairs, have historical ads/documents from old magazines, or any else you think belongs in the Technical Library than you might be able to help. Send a private message to Furchin, Mudrunner88, Chris, Jarney, Wuputt, or Markus56 and we can lead you in the right direction to get started.

:hello: Most likely you will need all the electronics/electrical from what ever bike that they come from.

Looked at that and it would be a nightmare.

Just going with a Megasquirt. It will happily run with just the bare minimum sensors.

:hello: The 1999 VN 1500 Drifter is done. After doing it I found out that DFI is a nightmare to work on when something goes wrong. It ended up a 4 week prodject. Half of that was waiting on parts. Would a stock ZL tank be able to be used for a DFI conversion.

:hello: I see no advantage to going to DFI. My ZL has always been spot on. No hesitation what so ever throughout the throttle range.

:hello: That most likely would work on the 250 Eliminator. At a GRAND I'll pass. :laughing7:.

:hello:...and for the big ZLs you'll need 2GRANDs aka 2kits; that'd be awesome: when installed you put a switch on the handlebar to change between 2LH or 2RH cylinders when in cruisin' mode or like Burger King says: have it your way...hahaha. :rotf:

Just found the first issue I didn't anticipate. This is the first Kawasaki that I've worked on that doesn't bolt the carb rubbers to the head!!!! It's a straight rubber tube clamped to the head.
Now have to ponder how I'm going to fix the throttle bodies to the head...as all the current Kawasakis mate their injection bodies via a bolt-on rubber.
