    will ZL900/Concours 21119-1111, 1110 igniter or GPZ1000RX 21110-1165, 1164 work on ZL1000 ?

Markus56 just put a Conc motor in his ZL900 - what ignitor did y'all use?

stock zl900 for now, cause we forgot to change it. Mark is supposed to test it for a bit then swap to see the difference if any.

After re-reading the original post, Lumi says the ZL900 and Conc has the same igniter, which is correct. So the Markus swap won't tell us anything.

Sorry, I can't answer your question Lumi. The difference in the 900/1000 may simply be the connector or the case. Maybe someone who has both bikes will be brave enough to swap and see :laughing7:

I still have the zl900 cdi in the bike but the zl1000 cdi I have going in is different and unique to the zl1000. It has a different timing advance to it I believe. As Mark said, I will be testing to see if I can feel any difference.

It will work I know of one zl1000 with a ignitor from a zx/zg/zl900. The only difference he reported was higher rpm capability before cutting out

Markus56, Did you ever notice a difference in the zl1000 with alternate zg1000 or zl9 igniters? I got a bad one I'm pretty sure. A few readings in spec and a few way out.

FYI - in the service manual, on the table for testing the igniter, the +/- polarity labels are incorrect (backwards).
Also, the readings in the table are with the "Kawasaki Hand Tester". Your meter will likely not get the same exact readings.

Ok, well the spec shows a max 55k ohms and I have 8M ohm on one reading and reversed leads show O.L. but others show 4kohm either way the leads are oriented, which are within. I have a no spark condition in 1 and 4. Coils test within. Brand new battery. New ignition wires and plug caps rebuilt. Not much left here so I'm getting closer...

I've never had any luck matching the readings in the test table, even with known good and brand new igniters.

Well that sucks. How can you rule it out, but to replace it?

I think you can test the pickup coil. Look for proper gap and brolen wires where it goes through the case.
Double check the studs on the coils for tightness and proper grounds of coil to frame.

Just wanted to tell this story from the beginning to see if anyone sees something I don't.
So i took the dust cover off after sitting for 6 years charged the battery (as if it was going to start) and cranked it. Discovered I had no spark. Checked the zloa website, pulled and re built the plug wires and caps all new. Had spark in 2 and 3,no spark 1 and 4. Pulled coils cleaned terminals and walaa I had spark. Sent the carbs too Rick, installed them, no spark 1 and 4 BUT It would crank in neutral without clutch. Then it wouldn't crank in neutral without the clutch. Checked the kickstand switch. I feel like this is connected...

Is there supposed to be oil in the area of the pickup coils ? If not I've found the problem.

Oil finds its way in there. Always a little when you take that cover off
