1. Guest,
We need good tech writers that are willing to help out here at ZL-OA. If you like taking photos of jobs as you perform the steps on your repairs, have historical ads/documents from old magazines, or any else you think belongs in the Technical Library than you might be able to help. Send a private message to Furchin, Mudrunner88, Chris, Jarney, Wuputt, or Markus56 and we can lead you in the right direction to get started.

After getting canceled last year, it's on for this year. Austin and I will be there, staying at the campgrounds. Just taking dirt bikes to cruise around the track. Let me know if anybody else is going, always have extra food and beer.

What a weekend after VMD getting cancelled last year. My son traded some web design work for a school bus that we used to haul the toys and camping gear. Quit hauling the Eliminators a few years ago after they set on the trailer and never made it off. Saw two 900's in the swap meet area, first was a parts bike with not many good parts left that the guy wanted $1,200. The second looked a lot like mine, good looking from a distance but up close can see the 35 years of riding on it. This guy was trying to school my son and I concerning the ZL900 model, telling us he has worked only on Jap bikes for the past 30 years and has this one dialed in perfect. It did start right up, he said he replaced all the fluids and rebuilt the front forks (I did mine twice last year). The bike also had 12k on it, again same as mine. Only difference is this guy wanted $6,200 (yes $6,200) for it and said another potential buyer was coming back to look at it again. Of course if I didn't buy it right then it would be gone by time I came back again. I wasn't even going to get into a pis.ing match over what I thought the bike was worth, but if he could get $6,200 good for him. Shoot, saw a KZ1000 that sat across from where we camped get sold for $5k. It looked like an old drag bike that should have been put out to pasture. The guy worked on it for two days to get it to run and sold it that Sunday afternoon. 20210722_145035[1].jpg 20210722_145040[1].jpg 20210723_090429[1].jpg

Glad to see someone still makes it to a VMD. It’s been awhile for me.

School buss brings back memories for me.
Some friends and I used to use a school bus for our off road dune buggies. One actually cut the back to open like a make shift garage door and loaded his buggies inside. Once on site the buggies came out and the inside was his camper. Worked pretty good and he didn’t need a second vehicle. Others were just converted into campers and spare parts storage.

This bus has the wheelchair lift on the side, but after hauling the toys to Mid-Ohio, he is going to turn it into more of a camper than toy hauler. He's thinking we weld a hitch to the back of it to hookup a trailer, especially if we use it to haul the big bikes down to Daytona or Sturgis or whatever bike rally we want to attend.

:hello: Glad to see that you went. Do you know of anyone else that went. Did it rain at all. Did you camp out in the field to the right as you go into the check in gate. That's a nice area. My Sister and I camped in it during VMD 2018. We picked the highest area because of the rain.

We got rain overnight the first evening, but that was it. Was a great weekend for the event, warm but not so hot you couldn't stand it. We camped in the area to the left when you come thru the gates, always a big party in the very back.

:hello: I always wonder why no one else from ZL-OA goes anymore. What year is the bus. Looks to be in good shape. Did they charge you as a motor home.

It's really turned into a pit bike party, more motocross with the hare scramble and MX course. In the infield where we use to have the ZL-OA meeting is more vendors pushing wares, a bike fixer uppers and VJMC. We only had the tent camp permit when we pulled in, and since we didn't have a sink, toilet or holding tanks we got by with the tent permit. My son was thinking about turning it into a motor home, but after learning that, might just keep it naked.

I'd like to make it but the calendar fills up fast for me and finding a free weekend is rare nowadays.

Long drive for a weekend with lots going on here and already having a hard time getting everything done.
Would be nice to be able to just go for a weekend at will like I used to but life changes. Heck I don’t even get out for rides as frequent as I used to.

:hello: When Sis and I went in 2018 their was a lot of vintage bikes for sale. I bought a 1974 XL 70 K0 in really nice condition. I seen at least 7 other bikes that intrested me. Here is a pic of the 70 when I brought it home. It was my first bike. 20190218_183855[1].jpg
