1. Guest,
We need good tech writers that are willing to help out here at ZL-OA. If you like taking photos of jobs as you perform the steps on your repairs, have historical ads/documents from old magazines, or any else you think belongs in the Technical Library than you might be able to help. Send a private message to Furchin, Mudrunner88, Chris, Jarney, Wuputt, or Markus56 and we can lead you in the right direction to get started.

I sold my ZL997 today, the end of my Eliminator era. I would like to sell this in its' entirety to a single person and not have the hassle of piecemealing it out. We live in South Central Missouri. If there any serious folks let me know and I will answer whatever qwuestions you may have. It is mostly ZL900 stuff, yes there is a set of NOS airbox covers, yes there is an NOS airbox, yes there are swing arm covers, but I really don't want to do this a piece at a time. Thanks

That is a LOT of parts! I hope someone takes it all off your hands quickly! I am sorry to see you without a ZL but I know the dilemma!

Sorry to see you get away from the ZL's. I'd take all the stuff if I thought I was going to restore any more of these bikes but I doubt I ever will. I still have two very nice red 1000's that I'll keep till I'm done riding but have no plans to expand past that. GLWS

It was a couple of years ago that I was having issues with my health. They have gotten me back to normal, now it’s my wife’s turn. They are having a time trying to figure out what is going on with her. Doesn’t appear to be anything mortal, they just don’t know why she is in constant pain. Hopefully we can get a diagnosis soon for her.

Glad to see you get your issues behind you, hopefully your wife can do the same. Sending prayers that they'll figure it out soon.

Glad you got your issues taken care of! Prayers for your wife!
In 2017 I fainted and wrapped my truck (that I bought 2 days before) around a high line pole. I was later diagnosed with Tussive Syncope. I have not been able to drive or ride since. I handed my ZL1K down to my son Shawn and my ZX6 to my son Brent. I've lost faith that any doctors can figure me out.

Hopefully everything works out for the best for you and your wife!

Not to detract from the issues you faced and are now facing but this leads me to ask this question.
Why are so many having so many odd or extremely hard to diagnose illnesses latey?
I am having a hard time keeping track of all the people I know that are having issues.

I’m suspecting there is validity to the “long Covid syndrome”.

:hello: PRFIXER. Hope the best for your Wife. Some Doctors are quacks. That's why they call it a practice. Awhile back my friend Sam who was 58 years old died from pancreatic cancer. In the begaining they told him he had parkinson disease. WTF. In the end he had a tumor the size of a softball.

That is a story that I’ve heard several times in my life as well. It seems doctors never have the pancreas on their radar

Prayers for your wife and yourself Brother. I'd be interested in your stash but I'm on the verge of dropping out of the ZL scene as well. It seems I've lost all my drive to work on them and every spring something comes up that keeps the bike off the road. Getting tired. Can't even get my ZL900 done after 3 years owning it. 17K mile creampuff too.

I appreciate that, Wiss! Other than carbs, these things are usually easy to get going. What is yours doing?

Already swapped out tank bought off John Smith, petcock from Markus and carbs were done by Rick. Still needs valve adjustment, front and rear brakes rebuilt, fork seals, swap out NOS front fender and NOS rear fender I got from Markus and remove hideous tall backrest and install stock sissy bar on it. Then Tires, fluids change. Possibly clutch as the lever is sticky. I've had it about 3 years after pulling it out of a storage locker where it sat for almost 10 years. Also replace controls ( one I got from you a couple years ago)

Just updating this to say that the airbox side covers, airbox and most of the swingarm covers are gone now.
