Knee guard installation Q's?

Got my knee guards to put on the ZL1000,(thanks Prostreet!!!)
Could someone take some close up pics of the bracket in the rear, and how to make it work on my 1000?

The brackets that attach in the front of the motor look self explanitory(just pull out the rubber plugs and put the bracket in the holes), but I can't figure out how to connect to the back with the little brackets??

-It looks like I need P/N 13169.

 

Not sure if you need to pull the rear coolant manifold or just take out the bolts,, ask bacchus he did it to his 1000

 

Mark you could actually fab a couple of brackets and hit them with some semi-gloss black if you feel creative. I don't think it would be difficult at all if you examine the diagram that Mark sent you. You don't even have to extend the bracket all the way across. Just my 2 cents.:nike:

I would have thought the more bulbous tank on the 1000 would have kept your knees away from contact with the engine, which was the intent of them being on the 900. I guess it may also depend on your stature and riding style.

 

My 1000 has highway pegs off brackets that bolt to the engine mounts. When using the pegs the valve covers come in contact with my legs. The engine is still wider than the 1000 tank at the back end of the valve cover. Plus the guards look cool.

It's just for the look in my case. Indeed the tank is wide enough and my legs are away from the cylinder head.
Prfixer, the brackets you mentioned are the one tied to the Knee guard Aren t they ?

 

There is a plate that runs across the rear of the motor that two small brackets attach to that then attach to the knee guards. There are then 2 different small brackets that attach the front of the knee guards to the head with long bolts,collets, and dampers.
