Got the registry started in excell.... post up with the last four of your zL1000 vin and provide information about the condition of your ZL (stock, modified, or project bike) and I will add you to the registry...

for those that are wondering the excell program remove zero's.... so if you see fewer than four digits it is becuase the missing digit is a zero.... that being said.... somebody's got #0008 !!!! WOW

According to the website of vehicles registration their are 28 zl1000s on the road in the UK at this moment and another 79 zl1000s that are currently on sorn (registered but not taxed for road use) so we only have ever 107 zl1000s registered on my side of the pond

good day, new to the zl900 community. always loved these bikes and was able to purchase this bike with 22k on bike..she had been stored over 10 yrs..was not running but all the pieces were there minus 1 airbox side cover...did a comp test...150 comp on #1#2#4 and 40 on#4.
readjusted valves to specs..did comp test again...190 on all 4 cyl. was happy to see that..rebuilt the carbs , rebuilt water pump, re did fork seals, bled all the brake lines and clutch..stripped the whole bike apart,...

Just purchased this and have taken the Head and Cylinder off due to very low compression. It had severe carbon build up on the exhaust valves and ports,,, that is all cleaned up. I did have to purchase (off ebay) all new intake valves. The pistons, cylinder block and head (along with valves and springs) have been taken to a machinist here in Germany. He called today and said there are three pistons which are at the service limit and the cylinders are not round... enough to go back with STD...

I have a black 87 ZL1000 1848. Stock, just under 4,000 miles on it. It is in good shape but with small nicks and dings from storage. It is a standard US model (Not California). I have no plans of selling it any time soon.

Missing digits "Go Figure"

I was at the DMV office to transfer title and when they looked at the stamped VIN # we noticed it was missing the ZL (4th and 5th letters). all other numbers were there. The sticker showed all the digits.
The DMV person rejected the VIN verification and is pushing me on to the CHP for the verification.
Q, ,, Is the VIN # any where else on the bike
anyone else with this issue?
